Our Academic Programs

The Hudson School offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to challenge and inspire students at every level.

Lower School
Grades PK3-4
Where learning begins with joy and wonder

Our Lower School builds the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. In the earliest years (PK–K), classrooms are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach—inviting young children to explore, create, and express themselves through play, conversation, and hands-on discovery. As students progress into Grades 1–4, they engage with an art-infused academic program that sparks creativity, builds confidence, and nurtures emerging independence. Students are gently encouraged to make choices, take ownership of their work, and develop the habits of self-motivated learners.

Middle School
Grades 5-8
Structure, support, and rising expectations

In Middle School, students move into an environment of increasing academic rigor and personal responsibility. With a strong foundation in the humanities and critical thinking, students are encouraged to explore electives, advocate for their needs, and make meaningful choices about how they learn. Supportive faculty foster accountability and self-awareness, helping students learn how to manage their time, set goals, and reflect on their growth. It's a dynamic blend of challenge and encouragement that prepares students for the independence of high school.

High School
Grades 9-12
Independence with purpose

The Upper School is where students fully own their learning. With flexible scheduling, seminar-style classes, and an array of distinctive electives, students are invited to pursue intellectual passions, chart unique academic paths, and take initiative. Faculty serve as mentors, helping students navigate choices, build habits of reflection, and hold themselves to high personal standards. Hudson's high school experience emphasizes curiosity, accountability, and self-direction—preparing graduates for college and life beyond with clarity and confidence.
